ART & SCULPTURE FABRICATION / PHILIP HAAS 'ARHAT TAMING THE DRAGON'

One of three immersive art installations for the work 'Butchers, Dragons, Gods & Skeletons' by Philip Haas. The installation spotlights five works from the Kimbell Art Museum's permanent collection, interpreting and elaborating upon the works with film narratives, music and sets.

Here Philip Haas interprets 'Arhat Taming the Dragon', a chinese scroll painted by an unknown artist in the 14th century. Mattes & Miniatures built a shrine against colourful backdrops to accompany projections of Buddhist monks fishing and weaving scrolls.
