Approx 1:100 scale visual effects miniature trees and special effects to depict a scorched forest following a star crashing to earth in the film. 

 

Trunks were sculpted in two-part foam, moulds were taken of real bark in algenate, shrunk and cast in latex to create miniature bark texture stamps, and ming foliage was attached to the branches. The trees were assembled against blue and green screens at Pinewood Studios and lit with practical flame coloured lighting.
